About

Clae Rountree is an actor, poet, and experimental theater maker from the southern plains of Colorado, based in New York City. Raised by his Italian-American side, he is a proudly queer Cicero-family artist.

Clae received his BA in Drama from Vassar College, including studies in Dramatic Writing/Poetry and Race, Ethnicity, & Indigeneity. He has trained in classical acting at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) and classical Greek theater with One Year Lease theater company.

Clae’s artistic practice and collaborative process are deeply trauma-informed and rooted in somatics, abolitionist theory, and Artaudian principles. His work seeks to bridge the voice and the heart, nudging our alchemy of grief.

Recent Work

An immersive, devised choral performance aboard the Estuary Steward crossing from Newburgh to Beacon, NY. Voiced scores meld with sounds of Muhheakunnuk (the Hudson River) and frozen blocks of text melt amid its waves. An experiment in bodies of water figuratively and literally “re-membering” one another.
